Jacob Souder

Mr. Jacob Souder has been an educator at Buckhorn High School since 2010, having established deep roots in the rapidly growing schools and community. He is honored to continue his career as an Assistant Principal at the same school where he has dedicated his entire career.

Prior to moving into educational leadership, Mr. Souder served as Director of Bands for 15 years. During his tenure as Director of bands, enrollment tripled to include nearly a dozen instrumental, visual, service, and leadership groups. Believing collaboration is integral to developing individual disciplines and achievement, Mr. Souder prioritizes relationships with all stakeholders to promote student-centered approaches to teaching and learning.

Mr. Souder earned his B.S.M. in instrumental music education from the University of North Alabama and his M.A. in educational leadership from the University of Alabama. Mr. Souder has been active in sports and music all his life, and still enjoys playing basketball and many instruments. His wife Katy is also a talented musician and an elementary educator at RES with a specialization in differentiated instruction and sociolinguistics. They have two children— Jackson, who loves sports and percussion, and Maggie, who is an avid singer and active in softball and cheerleading.
