I was born and raised in Moulton, Alabama, and I am a 2005 graduate of Speake High School. I spent the first two years of my college career at Northwest Shoals Community College before transferring to The University of Alabama, where I went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in English (2009) and my master’s degree in Secondary Education English Language Arts (Roll Tide!).
I moved to the Huntsville area from Tuscaloosa in 2011 and began my teaching career at Sparkman High School; over the course of my time at SHS I taught English 10, 11, and 12 while assisting with track, volleyball and planning the junior/senior prom. In 2020, I transitioned to Madison Academy where I taught English 11, English 12, AP Language, and AP Literature and continued my coaching and extracurricular involvement.
In 2021, I made the decision to move to Meridianville Middle School in order to teach alongside my husband, and I have been happily teaching 8th grade ELA at MVMS for the last three years. During my time at Meridianville, I have also had the privilege of sponsoring SGA, coaching volleyball, planning PBIS and Student of the Month events, and participating in essential standards selection and proficiency scales development.
My husband, Matt, and I have been married since 2011, and we have two boys, Parker (5) and Owen (3). I enjoy serving in my church, spending time with friends and family, reading, traveling, and anything and everything related to the Crimson Tide. I have spent almost my entire career in the Madison County School System, and I consider our schools to be my home away from home. While I have absolutely loved my time at MVMS, I am so excited to be transitioning to an assistant principal role at Buckhorn. I am looking forward to working alongside staff, students, and parents to make BHS the best it can be.
Go Bucks!
